David Horak and his tiger orchid
David Horak of New York did. In a recent article published by the Brooklyn Paper, Mr. Horak displayed at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden a mega-sized Grammatophyllum speciosum thanks to his use of Mega Thrive. The gargantuan “tiger orchid” weighed 300 pounds and produced anywhere from 850 to 1,700 individual flowers. This coming from a plant that is notoriously hard to flower.
Before Horak used Mega Thrive, in 2004 the plant bloomed with about 100 flowers and two years ago, about 200.
